Our clinic was opened on January 3rd 1989, by
the current principal, Alistair Newbould. The building has been
extensively modified and extended since then and this work is
ongoing. In this way we combine the 'homely' atmosphere of the
villa with the essential ability to maintain a clean and sanitary
environment needed for our work.
We have also continuously invested in the
modern technology available to improve the care we can provide
to your animals. Technology such as the Idexx blood analyser
which allows us to check biochemistry and haematology profiles
on our patients day or night - providing earlier diagnosis and
treatment - which helps encourage more rapid and complete recovery.
Parallel
to this is our ongoing commitment to continuing education for
all our staff. This has entailed travelling throughout New Zealand
and to Australia to attend conferences and training courses
on subjects from animal behaviour to Internal medicine, dermatology
to anaesthetic monitoring. We obtain training videos on a variety
of subjects and have run courses in the clinic just for our
staff. Of course we get regular weekly and monthly journals
and have access to a number of useful internet resources.
Dr Kris Wilson and tracey Cowan attended the NZVA conference in Taupo where Tracey won a $400+ text
on radiograhy and ultrsonography. Dr Alistair Newbould has continued his Ultrasound diagnostics training with
one on one training in the clinic. He had a further intensive training day in Sydney - a
"Masterclass" in cardiac (heart) ultrasound which followed a
4 day thoracic (chest) medicine course.
Parking. In the early days we shared parking with our neighbours on McBride St. We now have an extensive
parking area behind the clinic - accessed off Broughton St immediately behind Thomas Electronics. There is a
footpath to our front door between Thomas's and the clinic building.
